In absence of birth certificate you may get two affidavits on stamp paper - one from your parents and another from someone other than your parents (that is what my attorney told me).
If you can't file by Aug 17th, then the situation is just anybody's guess. Some people are talking about retrogression of dates back to 2001. So you never know what is going to happen.
Do whatever you need to do - you have only couple of days left.

I think, you could wait for few more weeks. Sometimes, the delay may be due to the unavailability of appointment dates at the nearest uscis office. In your case, I guess it is Newark or New Jersey or whatever..which I guess is an office with lot of applicants under its jurisdiction.
If you apply this logic to a person from a remote place, that will answer why he receives a notice early.
Well I won't suggest you to wait for more than 6-8 weeks.

Iam on H4 and my visa expired on oct 31 '06 , I have applied for extension on oct 20 '06 , but havent got my extension yet, I have another problem my passport is expiring on Feb 13 '07. WIll be going to Houston to get my fresh passport this weekend.
I have to visit India this month end and have booked my tickets with delta, from US to India via Paris(France).
I have 3 questions :
1. Do I Need an airport transit visa since iam travelling via France ?
2. How long will it take to get my fresh passport if I applied over the counter on emergency system (Tatkaal)
3. Can I travel with an expired H4 visa ?
Please Help ???

You are not the only one to get that message. Info pass appointments are tough to get now. Check during odd hours. I finally found one after hours. ASC's are NOT the same as Field offices. Also Some Field offices require you to show the corresponding state drivers license.

Getting the driver's license is not the problem, I know it will come. Problem here is why I cannot drive outside SC for up to 60 days waiting for the DL card? Remember I've to surrender my old SC license. This is serious limitation to my work, e.g. I need to go to Atlanta on 08/19 and I cannot drive there.
In September I will go to Italy, what if I don�t get my DL till then?

This is ridiculous
On Checking the SC dmv site and it is interesting to note that non-citizens are not allowed to renew their license online. I guess this is the result of illegal immigration reform thing which is now a part of so many states along with SC. And I think they are running background checks against the legal status of any non-citizen folks. My take would be that you should consider meeting the senator and explaining the issue. They can basically expedite the process so that you wont have to wait for a long time.

Wow! Great response for a small web forum. Thanks so much for comments and especially the adjustments.
I can see right away that I will be learning a lot of PhotoShop here. That's great! I can obviously learn a great deal about photography from the DSLR forums, but the Members Critique and the Galleries is what I registered for.
I got my cameras to take pictures of friends and family and to use at work. Most of the pictures I take look like a family driver's license photo album. The picture is bad and the subject is worse. I want to learn to capture the unique events because that is where the beauty is.
First I want to learn to take more pictures. I never seem to have the urge, opportunity and camera all in the same place at the same time. Is it as simple as always having my camera at the ready? How do you get people to accept your taking a picture of them without disturbing the event?
I also would like to learn what to take pictures of. I am obviously limited by the capabilities of my Cybershot and circular polarizer. What kinds of photographs, subjects and conditions should I concentrate on so that I can take pictures I will be pleased with?
Then I would like to learn to take pictures of the things that I see and think are interesting. Since I live in Houston that means cityscapes, nature and weather, and interesting people. I especially like people engaged in ordinary activity but with profound contrast of background or setting. Given a limitation of what can be carried on a bicycle or foot (and a reasonable budget,) what kind of camera and accessories would a professional photographer use to take these kinds of pictures?

I-140 is Application for Immigration petition. To apply for 485 you have need to have 140 approved/pending or should be filed concurrently. Medical is required as part of 485.

Those numbers would be correct as of 2nd half of 2004, I think. I got it from a Labor Cert discussion thread (from immigrationportal.com) around that time.

I think she need to fill I-9 form to switch to EAD and thus switching out of H1.
Right now she is on H1 as well as AOS.

From my understanding you got your H1B approved(for 3 yrs) beyond 6 yrs even though 140 is once approved and later revoked. But I heard from my lawyers that once 140 is revoked/withdrawn its not possible for H1b extension beyond 6 yrs. Could you please let me know what details you attested for the RFE to convince USCIS? I am also in a kind of similar boat.

I have filed 485/EAD/AP in Aug'07 and changed the address online using AR11 followed by the petitions for 485/EAD/AP for my self and the dependant.
Got confirmation in mail for all the pending petitions after 2 weeks. I have NOT called the USCIS office for the address change.

From what I remember from my earlier readings, you should be fine. The most they may check again is your employer letter to see that the terms of greencard continue to exist i.e. permanent job with similar job duties as in Original labor.
Also, check the AC21 and I485 forums in immigrationportal.com for more experiences.

We wish for 3 years but as of today both EAD and AP new/extension is for one year
